Software Products
We closely follow a number of software products that play a role in modern electronic recordkeeping. We pay particular attention to electronic recordkeeping software. Note however that many enterprise content management platforms such as IBM, Microsoft, and OpenText each have full-scale recordkeeping capabilities built into their platforms. In these cases we view their recordkeeping capabilities as a separate product, largely independent of the content management platform itself.
Some software products are what we consider to be “ancillary” products. They do not directly manage electronic records, but they have an important role to play in any successful EDRMS project. Such products would include email integration products, migration products, data analysis and cleanup tools, etc.
Some of these products, in particular the electronic recordkeeping software, we know very intimately. Others we do not necessarily know quite as well. However we try our best to keep on top of both the primary and ancillary products as they evolve over time. We are in constant touch with the software vendors who make these products. We frequently get up to date demonstrations, and we routinely interviewed the vendors with questions related to their electronic recordkeeping capabilities. We also occasionally write formal analysis reports on products. Contact natalie@rimtechconsulting.com if you’re interested in purchasing any product analysis reports. We also do product comparisons, evaluations, and selection on behalf of our clients, mostly for competitive bidding purposes. RIMtech is 100% vendor neutral and has no affiliation with any software product or services provider.
